Global superstar group BTS achieves another milestone with their music video for the 2020 hit song “Dynamite” approaching 2 billion views on YouTube. They are the fastest K-pop group to achieve this accomplishment!
Reached in the midst of the COVID-29 pandemic, the disco pop song was intended to uplift listeners and spread joy in the main way they can–through music. With the song’s cheery and bubbly melody, light-hearted lyrics, and the band’s vibrant energy, fans and other listeners have enjoyed the song since its release. It is reminiscent of a bright and sunny Friday afternoon that offers many wonderful possibilities of how it can unfold.
'Cause I, I, I'm in the stars tonight
So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight
Shinin' through the city with a little funk and soul
So I'ma light it up like dynamite
Although the band was nervous while preparing for its release, because it’s their first single fully in English, their success with the song in reaching audiences worldwide prevailed. It made the top songs of 2020 lists of acclaimed critic names, including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Los Angeles Times, and NPR. Moreover, “Dynamite” was the first single of the band to debut #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and it stayed in the chart for 32 weeks.
Many people discovered BTS’ music through the song because of how comforted they were from the song and became fans to stay in touch with the joy BTS gives. Although all 7 members are currently serving in the military, as required of all male South Korean citizens, their collective energy still shines brightly amongst the existence of ARMY (their dedicated fanbase). Undoubtedly, when they all return from service next year, they will resume making stellar achievements in history and shine even brighter.
