Kayla Wright has now entered the country-pop scene with her debut single, “Settle Down.” Illustrating a failed whirlwind western romance, Wright’s smooth vocals tell the story of wanting to be a person’s great love, their home, and their priority, but being heartbroken when the outlaw doesn’t break his wandering patterns.

Originally planning to keep this song to herself, Kayla decided to release "Settle Down'" for listeners who might need to hear her lyrics to process their own thoughts. Reflecting on failed relationships is a painful task, and Wright explains that it’s songwriting such as this that helps her process her emotions, “It was very cathartic to record and truly describes such a universal experience, so I hope it can resonate with others the same way it does with me.”
Kayla shared more about the song's background on her Instagram, explaining in her own words how she relates to her lyrics and why she was inspired to write this single. In telling the story of the girls left behind by their loves, Kayla finds herself and hopes that others can similarly relate to the previously untold story.

An Illinois native, Wright has always turned to songwriting as an outlet. Now, she is a music industry student in California, with her debut album scheduled for release in 2026. Alongside her producer, Carson Ripley, what started as a personal acoustic project is now a beautiful song that conveys emotion with a single strum of the guitar. “Settle Down” is only the start as Kayla Wright begins to make her mark on the music scene.
Cowboy romances may seem like an unreachable fantasy for most, but “Settle Down” makes listeners feel the torturously delightful heartbreak without risking their own heart, which truly is the magic of country music storytelling.
