Kalie Shorr turned The Virgil in East Hollywood into a release party no one will forget. MUSICVRSE was invited to celebrate her brand-new EP My Type, and the night had the perfect mix of music, energy, and personality.

Before the show, we caught up with Kalie backstage while she was getting ready. When we asked about her pre-show ritual, she said it’s always a tequila shot followed by a handstand. She swears by the rush of blood to her head before hitting the stage, and honestly, it makes total sense for someone with her fearless energy.
As the crowd filled in with friends, family, fans, and industry folks, Kalie kicked off the show with two guitarists backing her. She sang through the entire EP, pausing between songs to share the real-life stories that inspired each track. She joked with the audience, made it feel personal, and created the kind of atmosphere where you knew you were part of something special.
The highlight of the night came when Kalie performed solo. Just her, a guitar, and her voice. It was raw, emotional, and powerful, proof of how strong her songwriting and stage presence really are. With a glass of Maker’s Mark in hand, her drink of choice, she kept things loose and personal, as if the entire crowd were sitting in her living room.

My Type shows off Kalie’s talent for pairing sharp, honest lyrics with big, guitar-driven energy. The EP feels bold and confessional, full of hooks that stick with you long after the music stops. It’s a project that turns heartbreak into something you can sing along to, mixing humor, honesty, and emotion in a way that only she can.
The night ended with a burst of energy as Kalie drenched herself with a bottle of water and dashed offstage, leaving the crowd cheering and smiling. Moments later, she returned to soak it all in, mingling with friends and fans who had come to celebrate.
Kalie first broke out with “Fight Like a Girl” before dropping her debut album Open Book, which landed on The New York Times “Best Albums of 2019” list. With My Type, she’s proving once again that she knows how to turn her stories into songs that connect, and how to throw a release party that feels more like a celebration with friends.
