Clever is stepping up to the plate in a big way. Today, the genre-bending singer-songwriter dropped his brand-new single “Dale Murphy”, a nostalgic tribute to his childhood baseball hero and the Atlanta Braves legend himself. The release arrives with some even bigger news: Clever’s next full-length project, Coyote, is officially set to arrive on October 3rd.
Inspired by afternoons spent pretending to be Murphy in his backyard, Clever turns a love for baseball into a heartfelt anthem about never losing sight of your younger self. “Dale Murphy is about remembering who I used to be, swinging for the fences,” Clever shares. “Not allowing love or life to make me forget that part of myself.”

Produced alongside Paul Wrorck, Justin Wilson, and Matt Romagna, the track blends Clever’s country storytelling with the slick hip-hop edge he’s built his career on. It’s a sound Rolling Stone has already dubbed “diving headlong into country,” and this latest release proves just how naturally Clever wears the lane.
For fans, the upcoming album Coyote is shaping up to be his most ambitious project yet, bringing together his recent country-inspired drops with brand-new material that doubles down on his cross-genre style.
Of course, Clever isn’t new to collaboration or experimentation. With a résumé that includes working alongside Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne, he’s proven time and again that his artistry can’t be confined to one box. “Dale Murphy” is another swing—and a home run.
